this past wednesday evening, 1/23/08, we held our quarterly pizza night. it seems fun was had by all. there will be pictures posted in the gallery a little later. it was an evening of competitive table tennis, socializing and pizza, of course. due to the team format, it was a great opportunity to play people that you ordinarily would not. it was also fun to chat with some and get caught up with their lives.

points will be distributed based on match results, but �best record� will not be affected.

to establish a team winner, total games won and lost were considered. also considered was the difference between the total ratings of the two teams. the �red� team had a combined rating advantage of 4% and based on the total games played were handicapped by 5 games over the �blue� team. amazingly the �red� team did outscore the �blue� by 5 games thereby creating a statistical tie.

if one player was to be recognized for a great evening it would be chebu herrick who picked up 64 points. most of the big point losers were players whom had not been around for awhile. ���

looking ahead�the club will be open on monday 1/21 (mlk). on wednesday evening (1/23) the club will hold pizza night. there will be the customary playing fee but the club will purchase pizza and soft drinks for the occasion. the playing venue will be a team format. look for an invitation within the next few days from bill indreboe and the first 27 to rsvp his email will be included.

once again, both tables and corrugated were left up in the canyon view room. please do not leave before seeing that the tables your group is playing on are put away or will be put away. if we cannot all share in putting away the tables and corrugated we play on, a person from each group will be assigned to this task.�

beginning this monday evening, there will be a donation jar at the sign in desk. the contents of which will be donated to local school(s) in form of a ping-pong table or other, depending on the generosity of the club members. the community thru ard provides a place for us to play at a reduced cost, so this is one way we can give a little back to the community.� also starting this monday, we want to wipe down all tables before play. see bob grittner, ron mallory or bill indreboe to assist in this task. this procedure will prolong the life of the balls and the table plus the rubber on your paddles.��

the foothills room (main venue) will be undergoing some unspecified maintenance this wednesday (1/9) whether we will be able to use or partially use this room is in question. discretion would dictate that our playing space might very well be compromised.
