congratulations. nikolai, thank you for bringing
the russian chocolate wednesday, this will be a most favorable consideration in
future awards. in fact, it may be a
condition for all future awards.

results
– jan. 19 - table 1: jz
reigns supreme again, although there is no shortage of challengers eager to try
their luck and/or skill. table
2: john hanna reported grave concern and more than a little sweating
getting by tyler spesick, 3-2 (and a similar report was heard from grant),
and john and dave ganguly go 4-1 in matches, with john hanna
winning the head-to-head battle, to take the table.
table
3: the back
and forth duel between larry scott and nikolai z. continues. this week, maybe it was the chocolates,
but larry hit enough “sweet” shots to win from his second seeded
position. nice to see chamy
poveda for a round robin!
whenever you can make it, chamy, come on over.
february
26, 2011 – 10am – our annual club meeting will be conducted. time for our annual elections and open
discussion on matters of interest.
past year’s meetings
have been punctuated by searing personal attacks, airing dirty laundry, smear
campaigns, ballot stuffing allegations and … oh, wait a minute, that was
the election in november … sorry, just confused for a second there
… no, our
meetings are held with only two fundamental objectives: brevity and food. we do discuss anything and everything,
however, and we do elect officers and directors (check out the “admin”
page on the web site). all
positions are officially (and unofficially) “open,” meaning
if you are not careful and very nice to people, you could possibly end up being
elected to just about any position.
seriously,
though, we
are a small club but 6 years in the making, and if you think you or someone you
know might be a good candidate for a role, let us know. nominations are invited (and
requested!), send an email to lgscott@hughes.net
(larry scott, our club secretary) if you would like your name to be on the
“short” list. if you
have a topic or specific question you would like to have on the
agenda, send that along too. the
meeting will be held at bill k.’s house; directions on request. all players (monday and
wednesday) are considered “members” of our club, and all are
invited and encouraged to attend this annual meeting. the more input and participation,
the better. new players, old
players, young players and veterans, all should chime in, if you can make it. more to follow on this meeting, in the
next news. if you have questions,
corner bill, tom or larry, anytime.
for wed. night, - if you will be late (after 6:45
pm), be sure to call tom at 530-613-0101 or bill
(916-275-0899) and let them know.
if you reach us, we will get you on a table.
