ATTC News

Hello Auburn players

Please Note: The ATTC will be closed on Monday July 4th.

Round Robin results for 6/22/2011: A good turnout of 18, for 3 groups of 6. A warm welcome back to Sam Seo, after a long absence, hope to see you back many times! The best laid plans… Matthew Blom lobbied hard to be able to be in Group A and get to play Sam. Bill Kochenderfer graciously switched places with Matthew in Group B. (I’m not sure how much money changed hands) but alas, with the bigger group of 6, Matthew and Sam ran out of time and didn’t get to play…

Group A: Grant Connell only gets in 4 matches, but goes 4-0 in those, with 3 of them being 3-2 wins!

Group B: Bill Kochenderfer goes 5-0 and doesn’t lose a game to wrap up the Best Record award!

Group C: Mark Copeland battles his way to go 4-1 and wins the group!

See all of the RR results on our website.

Best Record and Most Improved twice annual awards - sponsored by JZ at TableTennisOnly.com will be awarded on Wednesday July 6th, the top 3 places with a minimum of 15 appearances receive awards.

Tamara Chappell wins the Most Improved category with an increase of 213 Rating points since January 1st! Michael Martin +126 for 2nd and Larry Scott +49 for 3rd.

Bill Kochenderfer wins the Best Record category with a winning percentage of 71.6%! Sergey Tsvor 64.5% for 2nd and Tom Spesick 59.2% for 3rd.

Sportsmanship Award – Our first presentation of this new award to also be given out twice annually. We received votes for several different ATTC players, showing what a great club we have! In a tight vote, Bill Kochenderfer wins the ATTC Sportsmanship Award!

Great Job everyone! Check out all of the standings on our website in the Trends area and the winners on our Top Players page.

Only 1 week to go -  for our Best Record and Most Improved twice annual awards which are sponsored by JZ at TableTennisOnly.com. The top 3 places receive awards. Tamara Chappell leads the way in the Most Improved category with an increase of 213 Rating points since January 1st. Michael Martin +129 and Matthew Blom +54 with Larry Scott +41, Mark Copeland +35 and Jon Saunders +30 all fighting for a spot. Bill Kochenderfer 70% and Sergey Tsvor 64% are out in front with Tom Spesick 58.1% and Michael Martin 57.6% also in the hunt for Best Record honors. Check out all of the standings on our website in the Trends area.

Sportsmanship Award – Our first presentation of this new award to also be given out twice annually. Please email me with your vote as to which “regular” at the ATTC is most deserving and I will tally the votes to determine the winner.

Ratings Change – At the beginning of our new half, which starts with the July 6th Round Robin, we will be implementing an update to our club rating system. We will award each match winner an additional +1 point. The ratings at the club have been getting globally lower as lower rated players improve and knock off the higher rated players. Unlike the USATT our software will not allow us to adjust a players rating to reflect their improvement. Many of the ATTC players that are active in USATT tournaments have ATTC ratings well below their USATT rating and this should help bridge the gap to some extent to try to reflect a somewhat truer rating. The one caveat is that once implemented, all ratings history will be impacted from the first day that we started using our current software, July 2009, this is why we are starting at the new half, so the “Most Improved” category will not be affected during an ongoing half.
