as our numbers grow, it becomes more and more important to arrive and sign in prior to 7:00 pm.� also to prevent unnecessary loss of time, if you desire not to play in the round robin please inform me or my designate before 7:00 pm.

mondays are back with ron mallory and mel starkey running the show. they will begin on 9/18. they will explore a number of different formats, including round robin. please voice your opinions on what mondays should look like with either ron or mel.

yours truly was on a live interview this past wednesday morning on local am station kahi 950 with dave and jenn. they asked about how our club began, how our round robin worked and about table tennis in general. for a few fleeting minutes, i felt like john madden.

greg cehan is spearheading the purchase of two more dhs tables. he is seeking member loans in the amounts of $100 plus. these loans will be repaid within a year with a 5% per annum interest rate. please give your checks to greg this coming wednesday.

beginning 9/13, i will be away from the club while having knee surgery and going through recovery. in my place, bill indreboe and don straits with help from greg cehan, mel starkey and ron mallory will run the wednesday program. please help and assist bill and don as you have me and i am sure everything will run smoothly.

gary gamble of hometown realtors addressed the group and explained about their annual charity drive to benefit local schools and how he saw a table tennis tournament as a part. more to come on this but, as i will be out of action during this period, we need a few people to coordinate this event. if you have any interest, please let me know. they would like to see this as an annual event. besides helping them out on a worthy project, their group could be a good resource in keeping an eye out for a larger facility for the club.

thanks to greg and sarah cehan for a great poolside party last saturday. one of the things that distinguish our club from most others are the parties that brings us together outside the competitive world of wednesday evenings.

last monday 8/7, the club hosted challenge matches against the sierra table tennis club. we also had a special guest, scott gordon. scott is a friend of larry scott and a top player using the �hard bat�.

a part of scott�s exhibition, was his playing larry scott with a clipboard. in deference to larry, the result will not be published here. scott also played others on a handicapped basis. next monday we will again host the sierra club, so come on out and watch, participate or both. it should be another fun evening.

this coming two mondays 8/7 and 8/14, the club will be open starting @ 6:30 for challenge matches against the sierra table tennis club. also, this coming monday we will have a special guest, scott gordon. scott is a friend of larry scott and a top player using the �hard bat�.

the use of the hard bat pretty much died out as sponge rubber came on the scene but this method of play has seen a resurgence in recent years as this form of play allows for longer points and is preferred by many table tennis purists. as a part of his exhibition, scott will play with a clipboard. so come on out and watch, participate or both. it should be a fun evening.
