Welcome to cold and rainy weather ATTC
players -
Round Robin results for 10/5/2011: A nice turnout of 19,
so we divided up into 3 large groups of 6, 6 and 7. Lots of play for everyone!
Group 1: Sam Seo
gets the group win, going 4-0 with some group matches not able to be played.
Group 2: Matthew Blom continues his assault on
trying to become a Table 1 regular by winning Table 2, going 5-0 in the
process!
Group 3: Doug Vaughan and Mike Martin
both go 5-1, but Doug secures the group win with the head to head
victory.

of the RR results on our
website.
Before
you leave – Please
be sure that all of your match results are recorded.
Legal Serves? – From time to time we have
a serve dispute come up. We try to insure that everyone is using what is
considered a legal serve, as an illegal serve can give the server an unfair
advantage and if an ATTC member was to play in a USATT Tournament, chances are
good that an illegal serve would not be allowed so we want everyone to learn
the rules. Please review the official USATT service rules below and try to
follow as best you can. If you notice your opponent serving illegally, bring it
up to them as soon as possible. If there is a dispute, please find myself or
Bill K. to help resolve any issues. Also remember, just because you see someone
else serving a certain way, that doesn’t mean it is
the proper, legal way.
2.6.1 Service shall start with the ball
resting freely on the open palm of
the server's stationary free hand.
2.6.2 The server shall then project
the ball near vertically upwards,
without imparting spin, so that it rises
at least 16cm (6”) after leaving the palm
of the free hand and then falls
without touching anything before
being struck.
2.6.3 As the ball is falling the server
shall strike it so that it touches first
the court and then, after passing
over or around the net assembly,
touches directly the receiver's court;
in doubles, the ball shall touch
successively the right half court of
server and receiver.
2.6.4 From the start of service until it
is struck, the ball shall be above the
level of the playing surface and
behind the server's end line, and it
shall not be hidden from the receiver
by the server or his/her doubles
partner and by anything they wear or
carry.
