hi all,

welcome to isaac perez who joined us in playing for the first time last wednesday.

bill kochenderfer will join bob grittner running the monday evening session.

he will call on ron mallory and jon saunders to help out when he cannot open the facility.

i believe we had an excellent meeting this past saturday, with good attendance and many thoughts and ideas to share. once the steering committee has voted, approved changes will be submitted and published here on this website. one item that can be announced is that we have a club secretary and new member of the steering committee in mike giangreco. mike has been with the club for quite awhile and his help and guidance will be of great use.

please do your best to bring correct change for your fees. we quite often get caught with just higher denomination bills.

if on a wednesday evening, you think you will be late, please call bill (916) 275-0899, or myself (530) 878-2602. if you reach us, we will put you on a table.

congratulations to the following 2007, 2nd half award winners for our clubs most improved and best record categories:

"most improved" 1st- tyler spesick, 2nd- tim aquino and 3rd- vince cavanna

best record 1st- tom spesick, 2nd- bill kochenderfer, 3rd- glenn johnson.

awards will be presented and pictures taken on jan 9th.

our club is closed this monday 12/31, however, the sierra club will be open. for more info, contact larry scott atlgscott@hughes.net

congratulations to group winners:

hi all,

welcome to kurt wardley who first joined us last monday and returned for our wednesday session.

ron mallory has decided to take a break from his monday night responsibilities. i am sure we all thank ron for his many months of opening the club on mondays. please talk with ron or myself regarding taking over for him. currently bob grittner assures that the club closes properly, so what will be missing is that person who sees that the club opens and that tables are set up (there is always plenty of help for this). filling this function also places you on the steering committee.

if you opponent is serving illegally such as from his fingers (instead of a flat palm) or you are pretty certain he/she is striking the ball on its way up, catch the ball and advise him/her and play a let. if it becomes chronic advise myself, tom or bill k.

there are several reasons to encourage legal serves at all times during play.  first, legal serves are required in any tournament setting and it behooves all of us to serve in the standard, approved fashion. second, illegal serves can provide a distinct advantage to the server (particularly no-toss serves or hidden ball serves) and/or a distinct disadvantage to the receiver (who does not get a reasonable chance to see the ball and prepare for the serve).  if you believe you are serving illegally, there is nothing wrong with asking for guidance - that is one of the club objectives.

if on a wednesday evening, you think you will be late, please call bill (916) 275-0899, or myself (530) 878-2602. if you reach us, we will put you on a table.

congratulations to group winners: tom spesick, rick close and kurt wardley.
